As the new album progressed ever nearer to release date, talk turned to the formats that we should release the album on. Vinyl was considered too ‘niche’ for our demographic
(ie. we couldn’t afford it)
so CD and streaming/download sites
were in the frame for media of choice.
Instead of our usual, ‘he who shouts loudest’ method of debate we had a session of lengthy deliberation and considered discussion (ha ha yeah…) until the sobering realisation dawned that in the interests of not ending up sleeping in the spare bedroom on a ‘mattress’ constructed from overstocked jewel cases we should release our new music on streaming and downloading services only, like all those digital native kids we keep reading about.
(LETS GET) PHYSICAL
As we came to the final stages of preparing the tracks for release the information that a new album was imminent was teased on Ye Olde Social Media whereupon (a good natured, to be fair) spluttering could be heard from certain elements of our fanbase bemoaning the fact that there would be no physical CD available on release. So, quicker than you can say, ‘Prime Minister’ a screeching hand-brake turn was initialised and it came to pass that a CD Digipak was commissioned for the listening pleasure of those who like their music to come in a tangible package.
